All was going well until one of the engineers “hit a cone” which had been left on the inside of a corner, lost control and crashed, causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage.

The conservative estimate of their speed when they hit cone was 120mph. The tire tracks from the skid were apparently 265 meters long (about 875 feet!).

Powered by a 4.7-litre biofuel V8 engine and fitted with twin superchargers, this environmental supercar of the future had been bought for $1,1969,44, but was valued at much more than that.
